Dr. Demyan Prokopchuk

Rutgers University

Research Area: We are a team that’s passionate about synthesis, ligand design, organometallic chemistry, and homogeneous catalysis. We focus on using Earth-abundant transition metals (Mn, Fe, Co, Ni) to uncover fundamental information about chemical fuel synthesis, reaction mechanisms, and electrically-driven catalytic transformations.

Wednesday May 8  @ 9:00 am Thorv 105

Dr. Gabriel Ménard
University of Calgary

Research Area: Chemical or electrochemical energy storage chemistry, focusing on clean energy vectors and redox-flow batteries as well as electrochemical capture and release of metals of energy importance, as well as exploring fundamental metal/main-group cooperative reactivity for energy-related applications.

Thursday May 9  @ 9:00 am Thorv 105

Dr. Eric Price
University of Saskatchewan

Research Area: Using chemistry and radiochemistry to solve real-world problems in diagnosing and treating a variety of diseases by performing multi-/inter-disciplinary research with a primary focus in chemical synthesis and subdisciplines including organic, inorganic, bioconjugate, computational modeling, and peptide chemistry.

Workshop Speakers

EDI Seminar

Wednesday May 8, 2024 @ 1:00 pm

Dr. Tara Kahan
University of Saskatchewan

Dr. Tara Kahan, from the University of Saskatchewan will be hosting an Equity Diversity and Inclusion seminar as practiced within the physical sciences.

INSPIRE Workshop

Thursday May 9, 2024 @ 1:00 pm

Hosted at University of Saskatchewan, the Canadian Light Source (CLS) is Canada's synchrotron light source. Drawing users from across Canada and around the world, it presents remarkable opportunities for enriched interdisciplinary training and research.

ACPS Industry Panel

Friday May 10, 2024 @ 10:00 am

Association of Chemical Profession of Saskatchewan (ACPS) is working towards legal recognition of the profession of chemistry, in line with our peers from across the country. Self-regulation of the profession will help to protect the public, provide mobility and recognition for Saskatchewan chemists, and will be an essential means for Saskatchewan industry and government to recognize qualified professional chemists.
